Robbins Ride April 18th 5-6:30PMActon’s Minutemen reenact the third stop of the alarm rider. Captain Faulkner raises the alert for the West Militia to muster at Faulkner House with three musket volleys. |

Open-air Tap Room October 4th 4-8 PMCome join us at our annual celebration for The Iron Work Farm and friends involving live music, minutemen and merriment! There will be games on the lawn, and fire pits for light, warmth and drama. |

Educational Events for Families
Programs in conjunction with the Freedoms Way, Hidden Treasures Program and Acton 250th
“Good night and Sleep tight.” May 25th 10am-5pmDid you ever wonder where that saying comes from? This activity will solve the mystery. You will learn the mysteries of colonial nocturnal life when you experience a visit to the Jones Tavern. Following this interactive experience, you will be invited to share in breaking fast in our Tavern dining room feasting on a traditional Colonial American meal. Following this activity, you are invited to head over to the Faulkner House to participate in the Hidden Treasures Program sponsored by Freedoms Way where you will have a reception with Mrs. Faulkner where she will show off the recently restored Col. Faulkner field desk which was also used to conduct the General Court in the Faulkner House Great room. |
Living History Program for Children and Families
Have you ever wondered what it was like to live during the time of the American Revolution? To commemorate the 250th anniversary of the revolution, The Iron Work Farm is introducing this unique, interactive program for children and families. This program is sponsored by the Acton-Boxborough Cultural Counsel and is open to all children 1 to 100.
“Fire in the Hole” (Part One) June 22nd 12-5pmNo explosion, but we will be digging and building a kiln pit. Don’t wear your Sunday best for this activity because it will be dirty. You will also learn how to process clay and build a vessel for the dining table. There will be previously made items on items on hand to fire in the built kiln. A traditional colonial rough, working man's lunch will served in the field.ABCC sponsored |

“Fire in the Hole “(Part Two) July 27th 12-5pmThis is your chance to clean up and fire what you made in Part One. We will also be learning about the origins of the “Purple Heart” and you are invited to cut and sew a decorative heart from cloth. Basic embroidery stitches included.ABCC sponsored |

“Crown Resistance and other matters of State” September 28th 12-5pmWhat are your grievances? Do you feel heard? The Faulkner House will be reenacting and holding General Court in the Great Hall at the Faulkner House. Mrs. Faulkner has been invited to discuss what the women are planning to prepare for the anticipated rebellion.ABCC sponsored |

“Medicine, women and Witchcraft” October 26th 12-5pmWho did you go to if you were sick in Colonial America. There will be an interactive discussion around the connection of women, medicine and witchcraft. The Faulkner's had a direct connection to the Salem Witch Trials. Our resident Historian Anne Forbes will tell the story of the Abigalil Faulkner and her salvation. This will be followed with festive fall activities and celebration.
